| Vocational Training at Tiptree EC |
We offer a range of NVQ and BHS
courses at Tiptree Equestrian Centre either for riders wishing to make
horses their career or for horse owners who want to learn more.
Since 2005 we have provided an Equine Studies Course in
conjunction with the Blackwater Vocational Partnership and Writtle
College. The course is available to year 10 and 11 pupils who spend
one or two days a week here under the guidance of our qualified
assessor. Completing the course adds to the student’s GCSE total.
Please follow this link for more information about this course.
We are also an outreach centre for the College of West Anglia
and offer NVQ2 and NVQ3 for adults two days a week with a qualified
NVQ assessor. The year long courses offer practical training, lectures
and theory sessions as well as assessments which go towards these
vocational qualifications. There is no need to go into college as the
entire course is work based. Funding may be available and students
aged 16 to 19 may qualify for EMA payments.
BHS training is
provided on Friday mornings by Alison Shynn, our chief instructor. A
small group of riders meet here from 10.30 to 1pm and take part in a
lecture, have a riding session and a stable management session,
working towards BHS stages.
Throughout the year we run BHS
Riding & Road Safety courses (click here to
see more). These consist of a one and a half day training session
with an approved BHS trainer, and on the afternoon of day two an exam
which includes both riding on the road and theory.
We also
offer work based apprenticeships in conjunction with Writtle College.
This is ideal for students who have left school and want to work in
the industry. Our apprentices have at least six hours training a week,
as well as riding and earn a wage. This course lasts from about
nine to 18 months, and includes preparing a portfolio of work and
assessments.
For details of any of the training and courses
please ring Tiptree equestrian Centre on 01621 815552 and ask for
Michelle or Alison.
